Description

The topics covered range from soothing words of wisdom derived from heartfelt personal experience, to incredibly specific and practical advice on everyday tasks. Women and men of Sali's age know all (or at least most of this stuff), and young men and women simply don't seek advice from a book of this nature. I can relate fully to all this delicious wisdom apart from having wet hair (I think its sexy at any time or place! eeskujuks ja inspiratsiooniks oli Sali jaoks muuhulgas Mrs Beetoni kuulus viktoriaanliku aja majapidamisõpik, kus tõepoolest anti ohtralt nõu mitte ainult toitlustamise ja korrastustööde osas, vaid oli juttu ka riietumisest, viisakast käitumisest, lastekasvatamisest ja muudest elus vajalikest oskustest.

I wish more was discussed about the pyschological protection of children watching unsuitable an harmful media or tv content, not just porn, but as a society this is largely ignored. I enjoyed Sali Hughes’ first couple of books - which genuinely shared useful information drawn from her expertise and experience as a beauty journalist, make up artist and beauty fan. I was particularly irritated by her views on childbirth- that you move on from the horror of it because, um, baby- which is carelessly and casually dismissive of birth trauma and CPTSD. Hughes is a beauty journalist and that is her area of expertise and from looking at photos of her online she appears to be far too young to have accumulated the gravitas and benefit of years of experience to advise on such serious matters as are contained in this book.

All of the advice provided was pretty obvious and I'm really not sure who it is meant to help or is targeted at. However, this was a very enjoyable read, I like Sali's style and all her Pool Columns, some of which are repeated here. I would throughly recommend getting this book for anyone above 25, it’s filled with life lessons, tips, and caring advise from Sali. Although it sometimes felt a bit jumbled, the advice is split in to helpful categories and the index helps too.

Trading Address (Warehouse) Unit E, Vulcan Business Complex, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EB. I never fail to hear her voice narrating to me in my head while I read, such is her distinctive style of writing.

I also found it a comforting and uncomplicated read during a time of heavy turmoil in global affairs. The Friends and Relationships chapter was interesting because if you follow Sali you might know bits of her personal life so I'm sure some of the advice is based on personal experience.

If there is anyone's advice I'm going to follow with regard to skincare and beauty purchases, it is hers. I really don't think Gen Z needs to be told (again) how 'chic' navy and black are together or read an entire section on how to create a password system. I started this book because I remember really enjoying Sali's informed yet frank style of advice in her book "Honestly Perfect.

It reminds me of various ‘Girls’ Handbook’ type books I had when I was young, but much less prescriptive. I think if you're a fan of Sali Hughes than it makes sense to read as it's her chatting away and giving you advice. Take what you need (and as you progress in life you will need most of it) and leave the rest as you'd do with any advice book.I bought this book thinking I’d dip in and out of it occasionally, but once I started reading it I got so absorbed I read it cover to cover over a few days.
