About this deal

Also, why do they mention 5 countries if only 3 of them are going to be relevant. I know the world's wide and everything, but if I haven't seen them in a map I don't need to know they exist, and hearing abotu them will only be distracting.

This book includes some elemental magic being used in unexpected ways. Using sand to kill?!? Gruesome, but cool? Don’t know what that says about me but it’s definitely different!

So I finally finished this book. And it is no mistake in the plot, quality of writing (which is excellent), or the story why it took me so long. It's just I enjoyed this as an audiobook, which I received from the author directly, and I didn't really have a lot of time with everything going on in my life to sit down and listen to the book. I was convinced to read this because a TikTok edit talking about a "touch her and you die" enemies-to-lovers dynamic with a "PUT. HER. DOWN" scene by her enemy so he could rescue her. It makes sense in context... but I'm sad to say that the edit was more exciting than the scene itself... or any following scene after it. I will say that I thought the story was much better than the cover 😬 She'll have to make a choice. Kill the most feared male on the continent or stay and let a forbidden bond take root. But what will happen when he discovers her secret?

I thought the writing was amazing and it really had a good storyline, but something about this book just didn't pull me in and I can't put my finger on it. I absolutely love Romeo and Juliet and when I saw this was a retelling, I just had to have it.I absolutely loved the worldbuilding and magic in this. The descriptions of how the magic worked and wound itself around the characters and how they used it were incredibly unique for a take on elemental magic and beautifully written. From multi-award-winning author J.E. Reed comes a breathtaking new series full of love and survival.

I was beyond excited and ready to close myself in my bat cave so I could enjoy it, but unfortunately life had other plans so it took me 3 days to finish it!I also want to give a major, major shout-out to Laura Horowitz, who did the audiobook for this. She did an amazing read of all of this, and I definitely increased my enjoyment of the story. I loved the way that she managed to give a personality and a distinct voice to every single one of the characters that were portrayed. First things first, this is not my preferred genre, but I've really enjoyed The Chronopoint Chronicles so far, that when the author asked if I wanted to be an early reviewer for TDATC, of course, I jumped on it straight away. The sun illuminated the area enough for her to witness the exhilaration on Rion’s face and the Fairy Folk that played at their feet. His trust issues did annoy me quite a lot though. After the first one, I couldn't not roll my eyes every time he explained what had happened to him. I'm not talking about smut, mind it. I was glad, for one, that even if there's some action, but it's the behind the scene kind. It totally fits the novel, and it's not relevat to the story.
