About this deal

In pitching, we had a phenomenal response from broadcasters, and many of them are proactively asking about the series, and asking us to send materials. For instance, I absolutely ADORED the ‘Sniff Sniff’ and ‘Nom Nom’ inserts, and found them immensely entertaining!

Throughout the story, Collier interweaves humorous commentary and some definitions (such as for devastated: “That means really, really bummed. A Horse Named Steve has a spare, wintry colour scheme (black and white, with pale green highlights) that belies the book’s abundant charms. This shows him as not perfect, and more relatable to young readers, and makes the story more fun which will keep readers interested and entertain by the story after it is over. Meanwhile, other animals have been copying Steve by strapping things (a branch, a stone, an acorn, etc.

Steve certainly thinks he is more than exceptional-- whether young readers agree would make a great conversation. A laugh-out-loud tale of an endearingly self-absorbed horse who learns that there’s more than one way to blow your own horn! Kids Can Press suggested that we talk to Nelvana about A Horse Named Steve, and we were obviously on board. Recommended to anyone looking for humorous picture-books, or children's stories addressing the theme of wanting to be unique and special. The realisation of his self-worth teaches an essential lesson to young children about valuing themselves over their appearance. In fact, many of his friends are so inspired, they decide to tie items to the tops of their heads as well.

We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. He scoops up his now golden crown and ties it on his head and gallops off at full speed to show his friends how AMAZING he is now. I loved the book from start to finish and now I feel that I am truly an EXCEPTIONAL (and ORIGINAL ) blogger, no props needed. It’s smart and snarky, and we’re dead-excited about its unique visual design, which will let us exercise our creative chops.

However, one of the main reasons why I thoroughly enjoyed A Horse Named Steve was owed to Collier’s simplistic, yet expressive, illustrations which whole-heartedly showcase the equine’s bright and bubbly personality. With its hilarious text and illustrations, this one would make a fun read-aloud, and many outside-the-box children will understand Steve's desire to be fabulously different.Beyond that, I think it’s helpful to keep on top of what is going on in the industry in general, and it’s helpful to network.
