About this deal

If I was planning to play an SMS marathon, maybe, or especially if I was trying to place in a highscore contest or something, i'd use a gen 6b pad for sure. If this is something that bothers you, they do offer a custom 3D printed plate to cover them if you’d prefer. I think having it be wired gives you the retro experience you remember and the long cord keeps you from the reality that you’re not in 1989 anymore with all of its shortcomings. The ads we use on this site help us pay for hosting and bring you premium content, reviews, giveaways, and much more! Personally, I have come to love the 2 button-only setup of the Master System, and have gotten quite used to just getting up when I need to pause a game.

Last of all, I think it would be worth it to print the purpose of the middle two buttons underneath them. I saw the RetroGameBoyz work on Twitter and new what they had to offer is something that all of our readers should be aware of. Having to rush to the console and whack a button (especially if a game had an inventory menu when paused) was a major hassle that could have been easily rectified. To make sure it is really the cable that is at fault, you should use a multimeter in continuity mode, and measure between the end of the cable with the connector, and the respective points at the pcb:s. In the overhead action RPG, Gollvellius: Valley of Doom, my onscreen character would sometimes not turn exactly when I needed him to when using the original controller – with the Honey Bee, this never happened, and the game subsequently became more enjoyable.

The 1988 model has Super Hang On built in while the 1986 model has nothing (except for Snail of course).

The internal button mapping is set up so that buttons on different controllers match each other's layouts as closely as possible. Now is a good opportunity to check the condition of the rubber pads, and give the controller a good clean with some isopropanol alcohol. Compared to the NES Dog Bone and Turbografx-16 TurboPad, the Honey Bee is still behind a bit from a comfortability standpoint, yet it’s smoother edges still keep it ahead of both the original rectangular NES controller and the slightly less comfortable original Master System pad. The Honey Bee Controller : As far as I could tell, the Sega Master System Honey Bee Control Pad was not released in the U. The main problem with the original controller is with the D-pad – it’s a flat pad rather than the more traditional ‘cross’ you find on D-pads of other older consoles.
